Specialty summer camp programs have continued to grow in popularity each of the past several years. In fact, they’re the fastest growing segment of the entire summer camp industry. A “specialty” camp generally focuses on one or more related camp activities (just beach and surfing activities, for example), versus a traditional summer camp which typically offers a more generalized program with activities such as arts & crafts, horseback riding, nature study, sports and games, archery, and dance and drama, among others. With Christmas fast approaching, while children set out to enjoy their time off from school, parents have a million things to do and we’re scrambling, looking for somewhere safe to place them. We still have to work …we need to take care of errands and last-minute shopping…then there are chores at home. Camp Essentials is hosting a two week Christmas day-camp for children ages 5 to 17. The camp will run from 8:30am to 2:30pm each day between December 14th and 24th at the St. Joseph’s Boys’ RC School. Outside camp hours, there would be supervision between 7:00am and 4:00pm. Buying a camping stove can be a tricky business. You want to make sure you get the right one for you. If you are hiking you need to get something that is compact and will carry easily. A trangia might be a good idea if you need something small, or if you are only cooking for yourself. A Trangia cimbines the methanol burner with all of the equipment that you need to do your cooking. If you are travelling by car then you can go fo a setup as large as you like, right up to a full kitchen set (if it takes your fancy!).
